The family announces the passing of Joan Hartzell of Madison Heights, Michigan on September 9, 2026. Joan, born on October 12, 1933, was part of many shared moments and relationships throughout life. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Walter Janas and Helen Janas. She is survived by: her children, Tom (Jodi), Karen Robinson, Paul (Patti), Jean Colling (Jim) and Mary McAtamney (Darryl Scott); and her brothers, Walter Janas Jr. of Great Falls, Montana and Tom Janas of Chicopee, Massachusetts.. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home (32000 Schoenherr Rd, Warren, MI 48088). A rosary was held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A Mass was held on Thursday, September 17th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Our Lady Queen of Martyrs (16414 E 14 Mile Rd, Fraser, MI 48026). Due to the traditional nature of the Requiem Mass, please note the following dress code information for the church: Ladies must wear dresses or skirts at least covering the knee, with at least short sleeves, not low-cut in either front or back, nor exceedingly tight; they are also requested to wear a head covering in the church (some on hand at the church in case you forget).
