He was predeceased by: his parents, John Wesley, Sr. and Vivian Mae Bishop (Curts); his brother Steven; his stepmother Helen Bishop; his in-laws, Marley and Luella McGranahan; his nephew Seth Bishop; his aunts and uncles, Kenny, Richard, Paul Bishop, Ralph Curts, Jimmy Perlongo, Lillian Bishop, Florence Bishop, Alma Curts and Edie Perlongo; and his siblings-in-law, Eddie McGranahan, Darlene Kanagy (Chuck) and Denise Edwards (Steve).
He is survived by: his niece Michelle Krull; his great-niece Ella Nelson; his niece Wanda; his mother-in-law Luella McGranahan; his friend Jay; his wife Wanda McGranahan; his brothers, Richard (Donna), Mike Bishop, Bob (Nancy) and Jack Warren (Nancy); his sons, Chuck Beard (Janet) and Rusty Blackwell (Jennifer); his grandchildren, Patrick Beard, Riley and Josephine Blackwell; and his sisters-in-law, Rita Bunch (Randy), Marcia Kipp and Lori Krull.
