He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Sparks and Irene Sparks (Fenton); and his brother-in-law Lyle Matteson. He is survived by: his wife Mary Sparks of Manistee, MI; his children, Erica Lampen (Troy) of Allendale, MI and Kyle Sparks (Megan) of Grand Rapids, MI; his grandchildren, Gracie, Marley and Josiah Lampen; his sisters, Lola Swanson (Ron) of Cadillac, MI and Lois Matteson of Manton, MI; and his sister-in-law Carol Ross (Blair) of Muskegon, MI. He is also survived by many other uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dementia Society of America.
