We announce the death of Mary E. Slagel of Maple Rapids, Michigan, who passed away on September 29, 2026, at the age of 89. She was predeceased by: her parents, Chester Lestus Kirkham and Jean Boughner Kirkham; her husbands, Lyle Blemaster and Max Slagel; her son Daniel Blemaster; and her brother Howard Kirkham.
She is survived by: her son James Blemaster (Dawn) of St. Johns; her daughter-in-law Sue Blemaster of Portland; her grandchildren, Michael Blemaster (Tiffani), Michelle Schultz (Tim), Julia Crowley (Dennis), Kara Spenski, Daniel Blemaster (Laura) and Stacy Blemaster (Susan Smydra); her close friend Joyce Taylor; and her niece Sis Leadbetter. She is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. A funeral service was held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Maple Rapids Methodist Church (330 S Maple St, Maple Rapids, MI 48853).
