We are sad to announce that, on January 2, 2026, at the age of 88, Alverna Thompson of Marquette, Michigan passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Dominic Cavallo and Anna Cavallo (Aho); and her husband John'Jack'Thompson. She is survived by: her children, Michael Thompson (Mary Ann) of Roselle, Illinois, Susan Raymond (Guy) of Florida and Kathy Levine (Steven) of Peoria, Illinois; her grandchildren, Eric (Anne), Matt Levine and Ashley Surowiecki (Scott); and her caregiver Mary Short.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Verna's memory.
