He was predeceased by: his daughter Carol Chien; his parents, Zhi-Yi Chien and Yu-Zhen Lao Chien; and his sister Hui-Ping Chien Gao. He is survived by: his wife Grace Chien; his daughter Jeannie Chien Wagner (Thomas); his grandsons, Zachary Chien Wagner (Erica) and Eric Chien Wagner; and his great grandchild Julia Rosalie Grace Wagner.
