He was predeceased by: his parents, Elizabeth Johnson (Schaffer) and Raymond Johnson; his children, Jodi and David; and his siblings, Beverly Magnuson (Donald), Judith Dixon (Art), Betty Pepin (Theodore), Shirley Kelly (Herbert), Jeanette McNeil (Doug) and Raymond Johnson (Ruth).

He is survived by: his wife Alice Johnson (Annala); his children, Jeffrey Johnson (Marion) and Jill Mullins (Roger); his grandchildren, Jaclyn Johnson, Molly Johnson, Kara Valenzuela (Jon), Ashley, Alyssa and Cassandra Kotajarvi (Kyle); his great grandchildren, Kellie Miles, Jaedon Pole, Everett and Isabella Hill; and his siblings, Joan Solka (Andrew), Grace Saari (Kenneth) and Robert Johnson (Marlene). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
