He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Brooks and Tyne Brooks (Frost); his sons, Jimmy and Michael Brooks; and his siblings, Elmer, Don, Robert Brooks and Betty Brooks.
He is survived by: his wife Elinor "Eli" Brooks; his children, Candy of Marquette, Sarah of Marquette, Netio Brooks of Marquette and Erick Johnson (Bailey) of New York; and his grandchildren, Emmett, Beatrice and Lucy Johnson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
