He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry B. Allen and Prudence M. Searles Allen; and his brother Timothy Allen. He is survived by: his wife Judy Allen of Marquette; his children, Shelly Grimes (Dean) of Green Bay and Jeffrey Chavez-Allen (Marc) of Chicago, IL; his grandchildren, Artemis Allison and Rachael Grimes; his siblings, Eloise Moll (Richard) of Los Altos, CA and Allison Miller of Nevada City, CA; and his pets, Misha and Diana. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
