He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralford Hansen and Genevieve Hansen (Kelly); and his siblings, Joseph, Ronald, Richard Dale, Robert Hansen, Shirley Orand and Patsy Hansen.

He is survived by: his wife Dorothy M. Estes; his daughter Joy Niemi (Robert) of Marquette; his grandchildren, Allison Niemi of New York City and Steven Niemi (Sabrina Alfonsa) of Marquette; and his sister Jean Marie Lee of Louden, NH. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to U.P. Honor Flight, 7508 J. Road, Gladstone, MI 49837 in Don's memory.
