With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Joseph F. Valente of Marquette, Michigan, born in Ishpeming, Michigan, who passed away on May 23, 2023 at the age of 81. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank S. Valente and Cecelia T Valente (Sarvello); his sister Fran Valente; his son-in-law Eric Cummings; his grandchildren, Angela Reichel and Cooper Wight; and his siblings-in-law, Knut Strom, Allen Kutchie, Bill Burke, Gilbert Witte, Bill Larch, Paul Machus, Skip Mosley, Peter Mackus, John Couveau, Janet Larch, Mary Couveau and Nancy Antonetti.
He is survived by: his wife Judy Valente (Couveau); his daughters, Elizabeth Wight (Claude) and Jennifer Wills (Eric); his sisters, Rose Strom, Clara Kutchie, Evelyn Valente-Heikkila and Mary Tasson (Eugene); his stepchildren, Jill Weingarten (Tim) and Rob Hanson; his grandchildren, Ashley Wight (Dan Finnigan), Chase Wight (Elise), Spencer Cummings (Jazmine), Brennen Cummings (Chloe), Adam Weingarten (Hannah), Cullen Hanson and Declan Hanson; his great grandchildren, Luca, Cecelia Cummings, Bennett Wight, Liam, Jude Weingarten and Molly Finnigan; and his siblings-in-law, Joan Witte, Jean Mosley, June Mackus, Amy Dale (Bill), Joe Couveau (Sandy), Jeff Couveau (Barb) and Donald Antonetti. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers memorial considerations may be directed to St. Louis the King Catholic Church in Harvey, St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Ishpeming, or the Marquette County Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming in memory of Joe Valente.
