He was predeceased by: his mother Jean Schmitt (Treash); and his niece Kelly Sinneave. He is survived by: his father Richard Schmitt; his wife Karen; his sons, Benjamin Schmitt (Emily) and Jacob Schmitt; his siblings, Rick (Karen), Steven Schmitt (Julie), Jane (Rick Crack) and Barbara Schmitt; and his grandchildren, Theodore and Cedar Schmitt.
A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, May 16th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Pavillion Presque Isle Park (Peter White Dr, Marquette, MI 49855).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a sportsmen's organization, land conservancy, or Trillium House.
