It is with great sadness that we announce the death of William Charles Smyth of Marquette, Michigan, who passed away on April 29, 2026, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Smyth and Agnes Smyth (Lidbom); his daughter Wendy Crotsley; and his sisters, Shirley Hendrickson and Dorothy Lampi.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce; his children, William Smyth (Pam) of Rockford, MI, Lori Burns of Gwinn, Steve Burns of Tucson, AZ and Lisa Johnson (Bill) of Vicksburg, MI; his son-in-law Mark Crotsley; his grandchildren, Brad (Brittany), Eric Crotsley (Christi), Jacob Smyth (Michelle), Sadie Smyth and Eli Smyth; his great grandchildren, Theodore Smyth, Avery, Summerlyn, Callie and Hannah Crotsley; and his siblings, Sandra Seppanen (David) of Skandia and Daniel Smyth (Suzanne) of Missouri. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Among his many contributions to the community, he completed masonry work on the Marquette County Courthouse wall, including ongoing repairs over the years, and the stonework at the Presque Isle Pavilion.
