He was predeceased by : his parents, Anthony Werstein and Margaret Werstein (Franzen); his wife Opal Masson; his son Daniel; and his son-in-law Ricky Kiger.

He is survived by : his children, Michael Werstein (Tena Groom), Steve Werstein (Dawn), David Werstein (Kirra), Ann Werstein and Janice Kiger; his daughter-in-law Karen Werstein; and his brother Frank Werstein.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of James may be made to St. Patrick School in Carleton.
