He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth Chartrand and Letha Chartrand (Bottomly); his brother-in-law Vernon Ellis; and his wife Carol Chartrand. He is survived by: his children, Tonya Chartrand, Robert Chartrand (Selenia) and Mikel Chartrand; his grandchildren, Kevin Lytle, Stephanie Chartrand, Jalen Chartrand, Kasy Chartrand, Katriel Chartrand, Joe Chartrand, Zac Chartrand and Sarena Dentler; his great grandchildren, Emelia, Savanna, Reagan, Freya, Leina, Lucian, Sarenidee, Heighden and Axten; and his siblings, Sandy Ellis, Sally Bingaman (Alden "Punk") and Tom Chartrand. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
