He was predeceased by: his wife Sherry Thornton (Wurtzbacher); his children, Kristen, Tom Pham of Wyoming, MI, Don Thornton of Midland, Nancy, Russell Pnacek of Midland, Susan, Dave Perry of Belmont, MI and Matt Thornton of Midland; and his mother Ina Thornton (Kuuttila).
He is survived by: his grandchildren, Jamison Pnacek of Midland, Elizabeth Pnacek of Midland, Grace Pnacek of Chicago, Amanda, Ben Parker of Trufant, MI, Alivia and Nate DeWitt of Detroit; his sister Ina Mae Smith of Cadillac, MI; his close friends, Ron Keller and Spencer Korson; his father Don Thornton; Nancy Korona and Judy Bailey. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Chippewa Nature Center and/or a nonprofit of donor's choice in his honor.
