He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Murphy and Ethel Murphy (Getz); and his daughter Pammy Jo Murphy. He is survived by: his wife Sandra Murphy; his children, Sandi Carter, Patricia Blair (Russell), Susan Sabourin (Mark) and Michael Murphy (Diann); and his stepchildren, Rick Sugar (Michelle), Steve Sugar and Julie Sugar. He is also survived by seven grandsons, five great grandsons and one great granddaughter.
