He was predeceased by: his parents, Emery Dietz and Lyda Dietz (Hutchins); his wife Ann Brown; and his siblings, David Dietz and Diane Miller.

He is survived by: his children, Steve Dietz (Christine), Mark Dietz (Tracey) and Kristin Parks (Phil); his grandchildren, Megan Post (Brian), Philip Parks, Sam Dietz, Margaret Dietz, Adelaide Dietz, Gillian and Aidan Dietz; and his great grandchildren, Genevieve and Graeme Post.
