He was predeceased by: his parents, James Paten and Wanda Noreen Paten (Case); his wife Carol A. Garcia; his grandson William Winfield Kohlhoff; his great grandchild Gabriella Laine Paten; and his siblings, Marvin Paten, James Paten, Vern Paten and Margaret Taylor.
He is survived by: his children, Cherie Burgess (Doug), Bruce Paten, Leslie Kohlhoff (Brian), Chris Paten (Lisa) and Carolyn Rottiers (Rich); and his brother Emery Paten (Karen). He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren.
