He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert McFarland and Margarette McFarland; and his sisters, Donna Kruzich (Joe) and Ellen Hickman. He is survived by: his grandchildren, River and Zara; his wife Mary; his children, David McFarland (Susan), Wade McFarland and Erin McFarland-Thomas; his granddaughters, Emily Thomas and Maria McFarland; and his brothers, James "Skip" McFarland (Mary) and Robert "Bob" McFarland (Sharlene). He is also survived by many close friends and extended family.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mac's name are encouraged to Paralyzed Veterans of America, St. Jude Children's Hospital and The American Heart Association.
