He is survived by: his wife Lauren Ann McHale; his children, Colin David McHale, Scott Lawrence McHale (Cindy), Jöern Walter McHale (Candy), Daisy Jo-Ann Swanson, Joleen Lauren Ashcraft (David), Josef Lee McHale and Joshua William McHale; and his sisters, Ann Kilgore (Glenn) and Rhonda Collins (Kevin). He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

“I am sad that I did not express my appreciation for Joe McHale, my old neighbor and older-brother type of friend in my youth before he left us. He lived next door to the Dragan family, of 39200 W 12 Mile Rd, in Farmington, MI. We were joyful to frequently see him walking down our long concrete driveway to visit. A car expert and Corvette aficionado, when I was 10 years old, we sat at our kitchen table and he drew a complete diagram of how an automobile works from engine to wheels. Jim Dragan”
