He was predeceased by: his grandson Derek; his parents, Robert Soden and Ruby Soden; his brother Marvin Cooper; and his parents-in-law, Gordon Borchardt and Joan Borchardt.

He is survived by: his wife Cheryl; his son James Soden (Shannon); his grandchildren, Michael, Christian and Faith; his siblings, Grant Cooper (Catherine) and Bonnie Simpkin; and his siblings-in-law, Douglas Borchardt, James Borchardt (Connie), Betty Gray (late Gary), Joanie Houghtaling (late Greg), Julie Champine (Lou) and Wendy Staniszeski (Mark). He is also survived by 26 nieces and nephews and 11 great nieces and great nephews.
