He was predeceased by: his parents, John Opalko and Florence Opalko; his wife Joyce Opalko; and his sister Karen Eppler. He is survived by: his children, Nathan Opalko (Crystal), Sarah Sumner (Kyle) and Jacob Opalko (Cara); his grandchildren, Jay Opalko, Jack Opalko, Bram Sumner, Samson Opalko and Wilson Opalko; and his brother-in-law Jim Eppler.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Michael's memory may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
