He was predeceased by: his parents, John Mata and Emma Mata (Dunney); his wife Margaret Mata; his son Gregory Mata; and his siblings, Irene Franzen, Joann Geiman, Alex Mata, Joseph Mata, Fred Mata and Frank Mata.

He is survived by: his children, Mark Mata (Anna) and Vicky LaRue (James Deremiah); his grandchildren, Michael, Shayna, Kristie and Brandon; and his great grandchildren, Savanna, Aaliyah, Charlee and Alexis.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 16th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Roselawn Memorial Park (13200 S Dixie Hwy, La Salle, MI 48145).
