She was predeceased by: her parents, Morris Newman and Lillian Newman (Fountain); her husband Bob A. Berns; her granddaughter Emily Thompson; her siblings, James Newman (Sharon) and Milly Smith; her son-in-law Rob Cherba; and her sisters-in-law, Lillie Newman and Mary Newman.
She is survived by: her daughters, Bonnie Thompson (Steve) of Monroe and Donna Cherba of Monroe; her brother Morris Newman of Monroe; her grandchildren, Sara Thompson, Rob Cherba (Amanda) and Adam Cherba (Tanisha); and her great grandchild Theodore Cherba.
