With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Derek Keith Jones (Monroe, Michigan), who passed away on October 12, 2020 at the age of 40. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He is survived by: his daughter Brooke; his fiancée Melissa Fenner; his parents, Galen Jones (Julie) and Barbara Thompson; his siblings, Catherine Jackson (Dwayne), Christian Zalewski, Mallorie Jones and Chelsea Jones; his nieces and nephews, Mikaela Daker, Beldren Snyder and Jonah Snyder; and his children, Kaylie Toro, Dominic, Sophia and Ruby.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and State of Michigan Mandates, guests will be limited in number, face coverings will be required for entry into the facility and no food or beverages will be permitted in the building.

“I met Derek at Custer School ..We were only in kindergarten or 1st grade.....We instantly became friends. He always had that goofy smile that was contiguous..He was the class clown but in a good way. I have pictures of us together at my birthday parties my parents threw for me. After school we lost contact for along time..We just started talking again and was getting to know each other.. Wish we could of seen each other one last time before saying goodbye .. RIP my friend .Miss u Jen Higgins”
