He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert McNew and Stella McNew (Keck); his spouse Jean Heimer; and his siblings, Edward, James McNew and Beth Ann Parott.

He is survived by: his children, Marcia Ashley (Allen) of Put-In, Joy Ballantyne of Monroe, Scott McNew (Ardith) of Monroe and David McNew (Kristine) of Monroe. He is also survived by nine grandchildren.
