He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo Butler and Iris Butler (Friar); and his brothers, Leo "Dusty" and David Butler. He is survived by: his wife Amal; his children, Andrew Butler (Sally) and Amanda Hassan (Michael); his grandchildren, Anton, Frederick and Mira; and his sister Susan Gates.
