Helen Marie Mott (Nation) On August 25, 2017, the trumpets of the Kingdom sounded, and Helen was glorified into her Lord and Savior's healing embrace. Surrounded by pure love and joy she was met with a hero's welcome by all those who went before her: those she loved and those who loved her, and the countless souls to whom she ever showed kindness. The Angels began a song more beautiful than any she had ever heard in her earthly life, and she knew she was finally home.
This is Helen's Song.Born Helen Marie Rodgers, July 30, 1933, in Warren Ohio, she was the daughter of John (Tex) and Celera (Rowlens) Rodgers. Helen married William H. Nation in Monroe, Michigan on December 13, 1952. Together they successfully raised seven children.
Helen worked for Monroe County Community College, where she earned her Associate of Commerce Degree. After 15 years of service, Helen retired from her position as Bookstore Manager and College Administrator in 1989 and relocated from Monroe to Lady Lake, Florida with her husband Bill. They returned to Monroe briefly in 1999 where Helen cared for Bill, and their ailing daughter Linda.After nearly 47 years of marriage, and following Bill's and Linda's deaths in 1999, Helen returned to Florida in 2000 to enjoy her active life in the sun.
She found happiness and love, and was married to David Mott of Spring Lake, Michigan on December 15, 2003. They made their home in Summerfield, Florida, spending summers in Eastport, Michigan.Helen was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Monroe, contributing as a Sunday School Teacher, Nursery Attendant, and Family Night Cook/Coordinator. Additionally, Helen devoted herself to a number of causes during her life in Monroe including the Camp Fire Girls and the Boy Scouts among others.Helen was preceded in death by her husband Bill, two daughters, Linda P. Flowers and Barbara J. Ellison, her parents, her sister Eva May Rodgers, her brothers Alvin P. Rodgers of League City, Texas, and John Rodgers of Dundee, MI.Helen is survived by her husband, David Mott, three daughters, Diane Burger (David) of Wixom, Michigan, Karen McDonald of Orlando, Florida, and Debra (Copi) Glumm (Michael) of Lago Vista, Texas; two sons Robert Nation (Terri) of Wichita, Kansas, and William Nation (Jan) of Monroe; a brother Ronald W. Rodgers of Salina, Kansas, and 25 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
All are deeply touched by the generous, loving care that Helen provided.Family and friends may visit Monday from 1pm - 8 pm. at Rupp Funeral Home 2345 S. Custer Rd. Monroe. Helen will lie instate 10 am Tuesday at the First Baptist Church, 1602 N Custer Rd., Monroe, Michigan with funeral service at 11am; Rev. Galen Lowrey, Pastor officiating. Graveside service will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, 13200 S. Dixie Hwy, LaSalle, Michigan.
Memorials can be made in Helen's name to the American Cancer Society, or The American Heart Association.
