As James departs from our midst, his spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved James. Though James may no longer walk beside us, his legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Stanley McGowan and Margaret McGowan (Neckel). He is survived by: his wife Ruth Meiring; his children, Patricia Thomas of Adrian, MI, Alan McGowan (Kimberly) of Novi, MI and Kathleen George (John) of Dearborn Heights, MI; his stepchildren, James Sisung of Sacramento, CA and Shannon Wood of Belmont, MA; and his nephew Deacon Drew Langton. He is also survived by five grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 14th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at 610 W Elm Ave, Monroe, MI 48162. A Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 14th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, it was Jim's request that memorial donations benefit St. Patrick Grade School, SMCC High School, or Divine Grace Parish.
