It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Lovelda Ely (Monroe, Michigan), who passed away on October 10, 2025, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Lovelda Ely to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Henley Whiteaker and Minnie Whiteaker (Ellison). She is survived by: her husband Leonard Ely; her siblings, Darrel, Wayne, Lewis, Nathan, Phillip, Dennis Whiteaker, Jeanette and Irma Dudley; her sons, Jeffery Ely (Mary), Brian Ely (Pam) and Steven Ely (Sherry); and her grandchildren, Daniel, Leah, Luke, Ciera, Jacob and Andrew.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 15th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Merkle Funeral Service - South Monroe (14567 S Dixie Hwy, Monroe Charter Twp, MI 48161). A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 from 12:15 PM to 1:15 PM at the Roselawn Memorial Park (13200 S Dixie Hwy, La Salle, MI 48145).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Monroe.
