We announce the death of Martin Okkerse of Monroe, Michigan, who passed away on October 14, 2026, at the age of 76. Martin will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Nicholas Okkerse and Elizabeth Okkerse (Lommerse); his brother James Okkerse; and his brother-in-law James Mason. He is survived by: his wife Ann Okkerse of Monroe; his sons, Tim Okkerse (Jennifer) of Germany, Mike Okkerse (Jessica) of Holland, MI and Matt Okkerse (Ashleigh) of Milford, MI; his siblings, Rudy Okkerse (Paula) of Columbus, OH and Mary Mason of Blountville, TN.; and his grandchildren, Ethan, Lincoln, Willamae, Nicholas, Jayden, Payton, Morgan, Quinn and Cameron Okkerse.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 21st 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Gabriel Catholic Parish - St. Joseph (8295 Van Aiken Street, Ida, MI 48140). A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, October 21st 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Martin's memory are suggested to God Works Family Soup Kitchen, 7974 Parkway Drive, Monroe, Michigan 48161.
