He was predeceased by: his parents, John G. Sonoras and Edna Sonoras Pabst (Zemke); his wife Barbara K. Osgood; and his brothers, Edward Sonoras, John G. "Greg" Sonoras and Charles X. Sonoras.

He is survived by: his children, Dianna Sonoras of Bowling Green, Julie Haddock of Perrysburg, OH, Scott Sonoras (Theresa) of Newport, MI and Kurt Sonoras (Lisa Janetski) of Midland, MI; his grandchildren, Alex Haddock, Nathan Sonoras, Amanda Sonoras, Zachary Sonoras, Megan "Alex" Sonoras, Karmon Catacosinos and Nolen Catacosinos; and his sister Joan Sonoras of Newport, MI..
