He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Gortat and Violet Gortat; his sister Diane Gortat; his in-laws, Harry and Marguerite Stiffler; and his siblings-in-law, Joan Stefko, Nancy Owens, Jack Stiffler, Will Stiffler and John Stefko.
He is survived by: his wife Carol Gortat (Stiffler); his daughters, Teri Thomas, Holly Bowman and Tracie Smith (Tim); his grandchildren, Kelsey Thomas, Christie Cunningham (Evan), Eric Thomas, Shannon Thomas (Zack Moore) and Jacob Smith; his great grandchildren, Jack, Gabe, Henry and Harrison; his sisters, Betty Woods (Woody), Lori Brooks (Kenny) and Carolyn Kennedy; and his brother-in-law Donnie Stiffler (Lora).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Tom are suggested to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
