He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Volz and Ruth Volz (Starkweather); his wife Juanita Volz; his sister Kathleen Hitchcock; his brother-in-law Jim Hitchcock; and his nieces, Patricia Hitchcock and Betty Kay Leitelt.

He is survived by: his daughter Lissa; his granddaughter Lindsay; his brother Don; his sister-in-law Ruth Volz; his nieces and nephews, Walter Hitchcock (Connie), Benny Hitchcock (Lynette), Joyce Wohlfeill (Hans), Gary Hitchock, Bruce Hitchcock, Dale Hitchcock (Catherine), Ronald Hitchcock, Hannah Volz and Micah Volz (Amanda); and his friend Jeanine Walker.

In Lieu of Flowers, contributions can be made to a scholarship in Bud's honor at Montrose Community Schools for students pursuing culinary arts.
