He was predeceased by: his mother Mildred F. Speelman; his spouse Shirley F. Simpkins; his grandson Clint Crowell; and his siblings, Arthur, Gerald, Wade Speelman, Ella Mae Barnhart, Juanita Shoemaker, Flora Montague, Florence Lane and Betty Pfund.
He is survived by: his children, Ken Speelman (Jackie) and Cindy Crowell (Steve); his grandchildren, Stacy Fiddie (Stephen), Justin Crowell (Dawn), Jessica Negrete (Greg), Kayla Speelman, KC Speelman and Shane Speelman (Kayla); and his close friend Marilyn Bryant. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations in John's memory may be given to Gentiva Hospice or the Alzheimer's Association.
