He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Elvert Kanouse and Charlotte Judy Wellman (Westra); his stepmother Sandy; and his siblings, Gene, Dwight, Arnie, Ray Stewart, Michelle and Robin.

He is survived by: his sons, Brock and Seth Kanouse of Morley, MI; and his siblings, Art, Scott (Cindy), Steve (Brenda), John, Jesse, Adam (Julia) and Paula. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
