Charles E. Black Obituary

Charles E. Black, age 89, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at Woodland Hospice House in Mt. Pleasant. He was born August 1, 1929, in Sharon, Pennsylvania, son of the late Susan (Dougherty) Black and Charles Barrett Black. He was a 1947 graduate of Dubois High School in Dubois, PA. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a tail gunner in an RB50 reconaissance bomber from 1948 to 1952.

Afterwhich, he attended Penn State University, graduating in 1956 with dual B.S. degrees… in Geology and Mineralogy. He had a long, varied, and distinguished career in the oil fields of the United States, retiring in 1993. He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Audrey (Beighley) Black in 1996. Charles is survived by four children and their spouses, Donald and Melanie Black of Tulsa, OK, Sharon and Jeffrey Yen of Grand Rapids, Andrea and David Magargee of Sierra Vista, AZ and Gregory Black of Mt. Pleasant; eight grandchildren, Shaun, Ian, Miranda, Kristina, Charles, Emmie, Patrick, Nathan; and two great grandchildren, Bella and Charlie.

No visitation is planned, a private memorial service will be followed by interment in Morningside Cemetery in Dubois, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the MS Society or the Michael J Foundation are requested. Read More ».
