Daniel Lovill Obituary

Daniel Lovill, of Mount Pleasant and formerly of the Jonesville, MI and Harlan, KY areas, passed away on Friday, September 18, 2020 at his home with Mount Pleasant, Michigan. He was 78. Daniel was born on May 3, 1942 to Charles and Beulah (Harris) Lovill in Corbin, Kentucky. He was a graduate of Harlan, High School, Class of 1962.

He was an outstanding high school football player, where he received a 4 year scholarship that he declined and instead enlisted in the Army. During his time serving in the military he worked as a tank driver. In 1966, he entered into marriage with the former Michele Hilliker. The couple lived in several towns across the U.S. Dan owned and operated his first bakery in Evart, the Rolling Pin Bakery in Litchfield, and later Scotties Bagels, with his wife and son, Matthew in Jonesville.

He was also was a salesman for Puratos Baking Company. The remainder of his career he worked as a plant supervisor for the Quality Dairy Company in Lansing. He retired from there and then moved to Mount Pleasant. Daniel enjoyed his outdoor parties with family and friends, where he made many special memories. He also enjoyed going hunting and fishing.

Daniel is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Michele "Mickey" Lovill of Mount Pleasant; son, Matthew S. Lovill; granddaughter, Emma Lovill; sister, Faye; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Marianne Lovill; his parents, Charles and Beulah; and 6 siblings.

A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, September 25, 2020 at 12 p.m. with visitation held one hour prior at Fosnaught-Holdship Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Hilliker to preside. Interment will take place at Winterfield Township Cemetery. Their will be a dinner following the service for family and friends at the Masonic Lodge, 2174 South Lincoln Rd, Mount Pleasant, Michigan, 48858.
