He was predeceased by: his parents, William Schafer and Blanche Schafer (Mead); and his grandson Aiden. He is survived by: his wife Rose Neubecker; his children, Carrie Smith (Russ), Lynette Satterlee (Steve), Christa Nelson (Chris), Tony Schafer, Stacy Lyon (Nathan), Ed Schafer (Amanda), Jen Wonch (Nate), Andy Schafer (Sarah), Rachelle Cotter (Kregg) and Ashley Schafer (Mike Woodbury); and his siblings, Josine, Herman and Carl. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren.
