It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Edna Matilda Rau (Mount Pleasant, Michigan), who passed away on May 31, 2023, at the age of 101, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Edward Smith and Louise Smith (Pung); her husband Walter John Rau; her siblings, Anne Smith, Gerald Smith (Loretta), Bill Smith (Irene), Nora Simmer (Arnold), Dora Smith, Arnold Smith (June) and Richard Smith; and her siblings-in-law, Harold Rau (Edna T.), Stephen Rau (Eileen), Raymond Rau (Sally), Rosemarie Funnell (Dick), Margaret Noble (Dale), Norman Rau and Don Rau (Gaye).
She is survived by: her children, Ginny Rau of Beal City, Delores Gould (Fred) of Beal City, Larry Rau (Sheila) of Beal City, Dale Rau (Sherry) of Grand Haven and Deb Neubecker-Straus (Dennis) of Beal City; her grandchildren, Brian Gould (Linda), Don Gould (Renae), Michael Gould, Renee Rau, Heather Wachowski, Craig Rau (Mindy), Christopher Rau (Jessica), Marci Weldon (Walter), Tony Morrell (Michelle), Joe Neubecker, Kevin Neubecker, Amie Neubecker (David Knopp) and Eric Neubecker; her sisters-in-law, Anna Blasen, Mary Irene Zeien (Fred), Patricia Rau and Gertie Brownlee; and her close friend Aaron Schafer. She is also survived by 20 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren.
