He was predeceased by: his mother Connie Kiggins. He is survived by: his father Don A. Stapel Sr.; his son Nik Stapel (Liz); his grandchildren, Abby and Torrie; and his brothers, Otto Stapel (Leann) and Scott Kiggins.
