He was predeceased by: his parents, John Welkoske and Evelyn Welkoske; his son Michael J. Welkoske Jr.; his siblings, Susan Hill and John Welkoske; and his nephew Robert Mason.

He is survived by: his siblings, Michelle Hawkins (Steve) and Craig Gerhardstein; his girlfriend Shelli Pfenning; his brother-in-law Ron Hill; his nephew Ronald Hill Jr.; his nieces, Sherry Hill (Mike Blum) and Krista Welkoske; his great-nephew Jarred Hill; his brother Anthony "Tony" Thornton; and his close friend Jared Hurlburt. He is also survived by many other nieces and nephews; friend.
