He was predeceased by: his parents, James Lawerence (Bob) and Rosetta Johnson; his stepmother Dorothy; his brother Paul Johnson; his nephew Dan Johnson; his mother-in-law Maxine Hoover; his sister-in-law Jane Watters; and his grandparents, Henry, Edna Johnson, Harry and Luella Boughner.

He is survived by: his friends, Dick Bancroft, Howard Hobbs, George Anderson, Doc Reagan and Mark Verekois; his wife Sally Hoover; his children, Jill Tewsley (John) and Marc Johnson (Christy); his grandchildren, Maxine, Alden Tewsley, Zella and Gus Johnson; his sister Sherry Karrar (Steve); his sisters-in-law, Jill Bowen (Roger), Mary (John Sawka) and Jean Johnson; and his nephew Jake Murray.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Alto Lions Club or Bowne Township Historical Commission.
