He was predeceased by: his parents, Arvid Hemmila and Irene Hemmila (Hintsala); his former wife Patricia Kay Hemmila (Siik); and his sister Gloria Jean Hemmila. He is survived by: his daughters, Erin Plisch (Brent) and Jill Eliceiri (Kevin); his stepchildren, Amy Gronvall (Kurt) and Aaron Carlson (Mindi); his grandchildren, Gunnar, Anja and Wynston; his stepgrandchildren, Tanner, Whitney, Macy and NJ; and his siblings, Andrea Viar, Sheila Briggs (Mike), Holly Nykanen (Bob) and Rich Hemmila (Bonnie). He is also survived by many extended family members and friends.
