He was predeceased by: his wife Kathy Ann Haggerty; his parents, Leonard Haggerty and Barbara Haggerty; and his brother Michael Haggerty. He is survived by: his sisters, Patricia Boris (Joseph), Shirlee Kipp (Robert) and Kelly Gaines (Roger); his children, Tonia Halaas (Robert), Tami Essenmacher (Joseph), James Jr. Haggerty (Laura) and Jared Haggerty (Laura); his grandchildren, Kayla Griffor (Mark), Robert Halaas (Jessica), Nicholas Halaas, Justin Haggerty (Ciera), Zachary Essenmacher, Jacob Haggerty, Joshua Essenmacher, Sara Turala (Maddie), Trevor Essenmacher, Alexa Haggerty and Samantha Emanuel; his great grandchildren, Austin Tyler Griffor, Santino James Halaas and Pietra Lynn Halaas; and his close friend Michelle.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, October 24th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Wasik Funeral Home - Gendernalik Chapel (35259 23 Mile Rd., New Baltimore, MI 48047). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Tanzacare or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
