He was predeceased by: his wife Connie; his son James Sherrill Jr.; his siblings, Jeanne and Bruce; and his grandson Hudson.
He is survived by: his daughters, Jody Young-Woodbury (William Woodbury) and Keri Burke (Chris); and his grandchildren, Blake Young (Natasha), Joshua Young, Blaise Burke, Harlan Burke and Emilia Burke.
