He was predeceased by: his wife Joan Folske; his siblings, Bernard Trepte (Ione) and Dorothy Campau (Walter); and his grandson Jason Schneider. He is survived by: his children, Robert Buchheister (Fran), Susan Van Tiem (Donald) and Karen Schneider (Charles); his grandchildren, Amy Buchheister (Paul), Brett Buchheister (Heidi), Ericka Schneider-Barnes, Ken Schneider (Autumn), Mike Schneider (Nicole), Lisa Minjoe (Mike), Gail Robb (Jim) and Laura Ottenbacher (Craig); and his great grandchildren, Brandon, Kayla, Bella, Brooke, Jimmy, Mitchell, Jillian, Mary, Cassidy, Kacy, Myles, Marcie, Nathan, McKinley and Lucas.
