He was predeceased by: his parents, William Basinger and Nora Basinger (Biggerstaff); his wife Shirley Ann Salat; and his siblings, Robert, Joseph, Charles, Helen, Mary Lou and Betty.
He is survived by: his children, Daniel Basinger of New Buffalo, MI, Anthony Basinger (Nancy) of LaPorte, IN, Mark Basinger (Trish) of LaPorte, IN, Julie Schavey of Chesterton, IN and Tammy Hutcheson (Greg) of Grand Haven, MI; his grandchildren, Brad, Ashley, Casey, Samantha, Brenna, Spencer, Jacob, Ryan, Holly and Delaney; and his sisters, Clara, Eddie and Catherine. He is also survived by 22 great grandchildren.
