He was predeceased by : his parents, Earl Scanlon Sr. and Jewell Scanlon; his wife Patricia Scanlon; his son Dewayne Scanlon; and his grandson Scott Smith Jr..

He is survived by : his children, Diana Worland, Patricia Scanlon, Earl Scanlon III, David Scanlon, Penny Nelson and Donna Gentry; his children-in-law, Robert Ingle, Greg Nelson, Greg Walsh, Lisa Scanlon and Debbie Scanlon; his sister Kathy Davis; and his brother-in-law Ernie Davis. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren.
